$2.2M Expansion of Cockeysville Library Complete

Holland Construction has completed the $2.2 million expansion and renovation of the Cockeysville branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, considered the busiest and most frequently used in the County's 17-branch network. Located at 9833 Greenside Drive in Cockeysville, MD, the 23,000 square foot building received a 1600 square foot addition during an accelerated nine month construction schedule. Hord Coplan & Macht served as the architect. The improvement package entailed a comprehensive renovation of the interior of the existing structure, combined with the one-story addition that features 14 foot ceilings. The combine structures will house an expanded children's area that features a puppet stage, computer station with educational games in English and Spanish and dedicated check-out desk. Also included are new restroom facilities, tutoring rooms, a group conference room and quiet study room. The enlarged interior will allow for the inclusion of additional public computers and laptop stations, as well as more space for easier maneuverability by library users. The Cockeysville Library, located near Baltimore County's County Home Park and the headquarters of the Historical Society of Baltimore County, first opened in 1982 and was among the first libraries in the country to include bookstore display shelving and neon signage. More than 200,000 items are contained in the facility.Holland Construction has completed the $2.2 million expansion and renovation of the Cockeysville branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, considered the busiest and most frequently used in the County's 17-branch network.
