Holland Construction Earns Award for Westminster Weis Markets

Columbia, MD (February 8, 2010) – Holland Construction has earned a Merit Award from the Baltimore Metro Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc (ABC) for the firm's construction of the Weis Markets grocery store in Westminster, MD

Headquartered in Hanover, PA, the full-service construction contracting firm also operates division offices in Columbia, Maryland and Sarasota, Florida. Founded more than a century ago, last week the company announced its name change from Hostetter Construction.

The Weis Markets project -- located on Baltimore Blvd. entailed a complete remodel of the existing grocery store and a 14,000 square foot addition which includes separate sections for a bakery, pharmacy, meats and seafood departments, sit-down cafe, frozen food cases and florist area as well as a new entry tower and store front facade. The cost of the construction totaled approximately $3,2 million.

The annual competition sponsored by the ABC Baltimore Metro Chapter is designed to garner attention to the region's outstanding construction. The primary objective of the awards is to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing the outstanding workmanship and project management of its general contractor and subcontractor member firms.
