Pennsylvania-based full-service construction contracting firm with more than 100 year history also operates division offices in Maryland and Florida
Hanover, PA (January 31, 2010) – Hostetter Construction, a Pennsylvania-based full-service construction contracting firm, has announced plans to change its corporate name to Holland Construction, effective January 31. Founded more than a century ago, the company also operates division offices in Columbia, Maryland and Sarasota, Florida
Company president Joe Holland explains that the change better reflects the Holland family ownership that has guided and expanded the construction firm for more than 30 years, as well as providing a long-term and consistent identity for its future operations. Holland’s father, Roger, acquired the company in the early 1980s and operated the firm under the Hostetter Construction flag throughout the past three decades.
“The company has experienced tremendous success under my father’s leadership, but we also understand that certain philosophies and procedures must be slightly altered to address what we are seeing and experiencing in our industry, present day,” Joe Holland said. “Our decision to operate as Holland Construction also mirrors our commitment and intention to set new standards in the arenas of green and sustainable building practices, as well as to make significant strides to improve our social and environmental responsibilities,” he added.
As an example of this involvement, last fall the company led a team of students, parents and teachers of Highlandtown Elementary and Middle School, combined with volunteers from area businesses and community members, to complete improvements to the downtown Baltimore institution. Completed projects included improving the landscaping and performing interior and exterior maintenance and repair.
Since 1907, the company has performed construction management activities for a wide range of office, industrial, retail, food service and residential projects throughout the mid-Atlantic and southwest Florida region. The company’s menu of services include preconstruction and construction management, general contracting, design/build services and Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) building.
In the past year, the company opened a satellite office in Columbia, Maryland and expanded its southwest Florida location. Past and current representative projects completed locally include the Arundel Mills Corporate Park, Baltimore Medical Systems, Weis Supermarkets, and Frank Parson Paper Company.
“We envision a steadily increasing velocity in construction projects throughout our market areas in 2010, with the product type involving a mixture of office and retail space, medical, public facility and build-to-suit. From our perspective, we are optimistic about the direction the real estate and construction industries are heading,” Holland added.
